Pulling into the station

June 14, 2005

Two good things make a good morning:
1) Mint chip mocha frappucino from Starbucks. I don't care who you are, this stuff is good. Think... Thin Mint shake. With a bit of caffine. Heaven in a 24 oz plastic cup.
2) Alanis Morissette's "Jagged Little Pill - Acoustic" 10th Anniversary release. (From Starbucks, thank you - which is the only reason why I even went to Starbucks this morning.)

And good news. I'm a candidate for fundoplication surgery. Say what? I know, I'm using big words that I can't even pronounce. Okay, basically they take a bit of the stomach and wrap it around the esophagus to make a little flap which helps to control the acid. What's weird, though... they do this through the belly button. So naturally, as the doctor is explaining the procedure to me, my belly button starts tweaking out. Anticipation? I don't know if I'm going to do it yet. The doctor said that Kaiser only refers a few patients a year for the surgery and that the specialists would jump at my case. I don't know if that is a good thing (yay for reducing the pain) or a bad thing (I'm a freak of nature?!). I'm going to think about it and then talk to the surgeons about it. The doctor yesterday mentioned that if I have this done, I won't be able to vomit or belch. Which sucks because then I wouldn't be able to participate in those Christmas belching contests at Grandma & Poppa's house...
